Fame beckons for Dance School pupils

Move over Big Brother because pupils and staff at The Dance School of Scotland, located in Knightswood Secondary School, are set for television fame when they star in a BBC Scotland series about activities at the school. Filming commenced in August 2003 and will take approximately one year. The series, which is scheduled to be broadcast in the Autumn of 2004 as four half-hour programmes, will track the comings and goings of the Dance School’s talented pupils and staff over the twelve months of filming.

The Dance School of Scotland has been in existence since 1983 and is attended by approximately 80 pupils who have come to Knightswood Secondary School from all over Scotland in order to train for a career in dance and musical theatre. As part of the Glasgow Secondary Schools Project, delivered by 3ED on behalf of Glasgow City Council, The Dance School of Scotland transferred into a brand new, purpose designed building on its existing site. High quality facilities in the Dance School include six dance studios, a lecture hall, fitness and music rooms.

The Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood Secondary School is unique in that it is able to offer all pupils a well balanced curriculum as part of a quality education while at the same time providing the specialist training for those young people destined for a career in dance or theatre.
